Magothy River Cruise/Cedar Point Post Race
Raft-up
The plans have been set for a rendezvous August 22 on
the Magothy River. This event is in conjunction with the Cedar Point
Race that starts and ends at the Baltimore Light. Currently there
are 7-9 boats signed up for the race and as well as several cruisers
interested in coming down for the party.
Our rendezvous location is Stonington Community Beach (Southside of the
Magothy between day marker 7 and 9). Stonington
has a long T-dock that we can side tie on for the party. There is 3-4 foot
of water from the ladders out along the long leg of the T. If you
prefer to drop the hook in the cove you can dingy over to the pier or
further in to the beach. There are nice bathroom facilities but no
showers. For the kids there is a nice beach area (at lower tide) and
playground equipment. Clint and I toured the place and found it well
shaded and quite peaceful. Thank Doug Dykman for securing the site
for this event.
The community will not allow anyone to stay side tied to the pier
overnight. There are several coves close by that will be nice
anchorages. If the South wind prevails you will be well protected in
the cove just off the t-dock. Otherwise motor over to Dobbins, Grey
Creek, Broad Creek, Eagle’s
Cove or Cool Spring Cove just to give you some options.
CMA will supply burgers, hot dogs, soda and water. Bring your
favorite side dish, munchies or dessert. For adult beverages it will
be BYOB. Clint and Tim Lyons will have the grill going around 5:00.
Come by land or by sea. Bring the crew, the family or extended
family. We just need to know you are coming so that we have enough
food.
We hope to see many of our friends at this event. Fun should be had
by all.
